October Family Homework

Below are some examples of the October family homework project. Everyone did such a good job. The students all loved presenting their pumpkins to the class and talking about how they made their pumpkin. Thank you to all who participated! If you would like, you can still turn your pumpkin in sometime next week.

Poping for Our 5 Senses

We decided to make popcorn last Friday to further explore our five senses. Both classes came together so that everyone could have fun with popcorn.

Here are a few things that the students were saying.

"I see the popcorn jumping."
"I hear it go pop, pop, pop."
"Mmm. I smell the butter."
"I taste the salt."
"I feel the smooth cornels."

Awards Assembly

Dear Parents,

This year we are going to do the Awards Ceremony a little differently. Each nine weeks, 6-7 kindergarteners will be chosen from each class to receive an award. Not every child will be receiving an award at tomorrow's assembly. If your child is getting an award, I have emailed you about it. Everyone is welcome to attend tomorrow, but I wanted to make sure parents of students getting an award got notice in advance.

The ceremony will start at 8:00 a.m.

Please feel free to email me with any questions.

Thank you!

Fire Station Field Trip

On Tuesday we got to walk to the Carrollton Fire Station No. 6. It was such a beautiful day for a short walk! Check out our pictures to see all the fun that we had.

On our way to the fire station!

Waiting for the firemen to return from a call they received just before we got there.

Walking back to school and deciding to try and reschedule.

Hurray! We got a call saying that the firemen returned and are ready for us. So here we go on round two!

Getting to explore their kitchen and living room.

"Stop, Drop, and Roll"

Getting to see where the firemen sleep.

And where they exercise.

Learning about how the firemen dress to protect themselves.

And our favorite part! The fire engine:

Sight Word Fun!

We are having fun learning about our sight words! We need to not only read, but know how to write and spell these sight words! Some parents may have already seen the evidence of our fun learning during dismissal yesterday. For those who missed it, or just want to see more, look at how much fun everyone had writing their sight words with chalk.
